(Edited press release)

The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS, has given a $10,000 grant to Thoroughbred Charities of America to honor Eight Belles, who suffered a fatal breakdown after her second place finish to Big Brown in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

TCA created the Eight Belles Memorial Fund following an outpouring of donations in Eight Belles’ honor, to direct designated donations to two of five sectors of Thoroughbred charities: rescue and retraining, and research into catastrophic breakdowns.

“UPS has a long-standing commitment to making communities all over the world better by supporting organizations and engaging more than 400,000 employees in community service worldwide.” said Ron Rogowski, director of UPS sponsorships.
