Three Wonders, a leading Florida stallion the last two years, was euthanized May 16 because of complications caused by severe pain stemming from lack of coordination and muscle weakness. The 11-year-old son of Storm Cat stood at Peter Van Rosbeck’s Hidden Point Farm near Ocala, Fla. He did not cover any mares this year.

Three Wonders was Florida’s leading first-crop sire in 2006 by progeny earnings and the state’s second-crop leader in ’07. This year in the Sunshine State, he ranks third among third-crop sires and 14th on the general list. He has career progeny earnings of $3.4 million.

Bred in Kentucky by Craig B. Singer and a $475,000 Keeneland April 2-year-old graduate, Three Wonders raced the first part of his career for Mark H. Stanley before being bought privately by Van Rosbeck after his 4-year-old season. He retired after one start in 2003 with four wins from 30 starts and earnings of $318,032. His big win came in the 2000 Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr.IIIT).

Three Wonders sired stakes winners Calico Bay and Gal Wonder, both of whom were bred by Hidden Point, plus six stakes-placed runners. Calico Bay won this year’s Darley Ocala Breeders’ Sale Championship Stakes. Last year, she won the Florida Stallions My Dear Girl Stakes.

Three Wonders is out French group winner Wood of Binn (by Woodman) and is a half-brother to grade II winner Distilled.
