Sales stepped up a notch at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in Newmarket yesterday with John Ferguson stealing the show when spending 400,000gns ($865,783) for an Oasis Dream ( by Green Desert) colt out of King’s Stand Stakes (Eng-II) winner Dominica (Alhaarth).
The colt was bred by Bob McCreery, who consigned him from his Stowell Hill Stud in partnership with Bobby and Helen Kennard, and was bought as a racing prospect for Sheikh Mohammed. McCreery’s Stowell Hill Stud enjoyed a vintage day, also selling a 200,000gns ($432,278) Dansili half-brother to Gary Moore’s winning juvenile Art Sale (by Compton Place) for breeder Rosanne Dobson.
Pinhooker Willie Browne fought off Paul McCartan, manager of Denis Brosnan’s Croom House Stud, for the colt. A full brother to promising juvenile Oarsman (by Selkirk), purchased for 125,000 gns ($270,556), will be reoffered from Brendan Holland’s County Cork-based Grove Stud next year.
An Oratorio (by Danehill) half sister to Cornwallis Stakes (Eng-III) winner Hunter Street (by Compton Place), bred by Crandon Park Stud, was sold for 130,000gns ($281,379) to a client of Emerald Bloodstock’s Brendan Gallagher.
Today's session begins at 10:00 am.
